Victoria Falls, also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, which means "The Smoke that Thunders" in the Lozi language, is one of the world's most famous and magnificent waterfalls. It is located in southern Africa on the Zambezi River, between the countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Scottish explorer David Livingstone, the first European to see the falls in 1855, named them after Queen Victoria. Victoria Falls is 1.7 kilometers (1.1 miles) wide and 108 meters (354 feet) tall, making it the world's largest sheet of falling water.
