Tucked within a private concession in Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve, Xigera Safari Lodge redefines luxury on safari. Rebuilt in December 2020, the lodge embraces the philosophy of “anything, any time,” allowing guests to shape their days without strict timetables. Elevated walkways meander through a canopy of large trees to a lily‑inspired pavilion overlooking a lagoon. The entire structure is artfully crafted, with undulating rooflines and scorched timber cladding housing a collection of furniture and sculpture commissioned from more than 30 African artists. A high staff‑to‑guest ratio, with 105 staff members serving just 24 guests, ensures personalised service and an indulgent safari experience.

The Rooms

Twelve suites, including one expansive family suite, are perched on stilts under towering trees. Each air‑conditioned suite offers separate lounge, bedroom and dressing rooms, Wi‑Fi and a safe. Large bathrooms feature indoor and outdoor showers, while spacious decks are furnished with a daybed and gazebo for private dining. For a truly unforgettable night, the camp’s Baobab Treehouse offers a three‑storey star‑bed sleep‑out: a steel sculpture rising 10 metres above the floodplain with a bedroom and bathroom on the second level and an open‑air deck with a king‑size bed on the top level.

Safari & Activities

Xigera breaks away from fixed schedules, allowing guests to design their own days. Activities include morning, afternoon or evening game drives, private walking safaris, photographic workshops, yoga sessions, and seasonal fishing. Mokoro and glass-bottomed mokoro excursions glide silently among lilies, while motorboat trips explore the lagoons and channels. Water activities are seasonal, typically from May or June to September, when the camp transforms into a water-world offering a mix of land and water safaris in complete privacy within its private concession.

Delight in the Luxurious Amenities

The lodge’s design is as much a gallery as a retreat. Every chair, table, and artwork has been specially commissioned, with pieces created by more than thirty African artists. Meals are served from an interactive kitchen and complemented by wines from the owner’s vineyard, Bouchard Finlayson, stored in a temperature-controlled cellar. After dinner, guests gather around a totemic firepit sculpture in the boma. Between game drives, relax in the state-of-the-art gym or the dark-water pool that blends seamlessly with the surrounding waterways. A tranquil library hosts talks from specialists, and two spa rooms offer wellness programs focused on mindfulness and holistic healing.

What We Love

At Xigera, an “anything, any time” philosophy means there are no fixed safari timetables, allowing guests to experience the Delta entirely at their own pace. Suites with private decks, gazebos, and daybeds offer exceptional comfort and seclusion, while artistic interiors curated by Southern Guild Gallery celebrate contemporary African craftsmanship. The Baobab Treehouse star-bed experience provides an unforgettable night beneath Botswana’s vast skies. Sustainability lies at the heart of the lodge, powered entirely by solar energy.
