The Rooms

Mokolwane’s accommodation includes six twin or double tents and one family tent, all raised about ten feet above the ground among shady trees. Each spacious canvas tent features an en-suite bathroom with an indoor shower, flush toilet, and hot and cold running water, along with comfortable interiors styled in earthy tones, mosquito nets, and ceiling fans for cooling. Private decks overlook the river system and waterhole, offering guests the chance to watch elephants, antelope, and predators come to drink. The elevated design provides sweeping views across the floodplains while keeping the camp discreetly above the wildlife. The main area houses a relaxed lounge and dining space, a small bar, and a shaded deck under the trees, with Wi-Fi available but no air-conditioning, staying true to the camp’s eco-friendly ethos.

Breathtaking Wildlife

The Xudum Concession spans about 200 000 hectares of open grasslands, fertile floodplains, clear lagoons, reeded islands, and mopane forests, creating a rich mosaic of habitats that supports an impressive diversity of wildlife. Visitors can encounter large herds of elephants and buffalo, along with predators such as leopard, lion, wild dog, hyena, and cheetah. Smaller species like jackals, honey badgers, and mongooses are common, while nocturnal animals including aardvark, civet, and genet appear after dark. Antelope and plains game such as zebra, kudu, and lechwe roam freely, and birdlife is prolific, featuring Pel’s fishing owl, martial eagles, and wattle cranes. Wildlife viewing is exceptional both from camp and on game drives, with elevated vehicle seats offering panoramic views across the delta.

Mokolwane offers a mix of land and water adventures, with morning and evening game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, night drives under the stars, and peaceful mokoro excursions through the floodplains when water levels allow. Guests can enjoy bird watching, photography, and seasonal guided walks to explore nearby islands and plains. Scenic helicopter flights over the Okavango Delta provide breathtaking aerial views at an additional cost. As the only camp in the concession, every outing feels exclusive, with few other vehicles in sight.

As the only lodge in its vast concession, it offers complete privacy and untouched wilderness. With just seven elevated tents tucked among the trees, the camp delivers intimate, earthy comfort amid the Delta’s floodplains, lagoons, and forests. Where To Find Mokolwane Camp

Mokolwane lies on the Matsebi River in the remote Xudum Concession (NG 29), in the south-western Okavango Delta. The camp is surrounded by a vast 180 000–200 000-hectare private reserve that stretches between the Xudum, Kiri, and Matsebi river systems. It is reached by a 30-minute helicopter transfer from Maun or nearby camps. As the only camp in this wilderness, Mokolwane offers complete seclusion with virtually no human activity in the surrounding area.
