The Rooms
The lodge has twelve rooms in total: ten twin rooms and two inter-leading family units comprising four beds each. Each unit has air-conditioning, its own indoor and outdoor bathroom, as well as a luxurious private plunge pool to cool off in the afternoons. The main lodge consists of a lounge with an open-plan dining room that flows into a wine cellar, a private library, gym and spa, and a communal deck area set on the edge of the river with an infinity pool and floating deck that overlooks the river. Wooden decking floats on the edge of the river, moving with the water levels giving guests the feeling of seamlessness between the land and river.
Spectacular Game Viewing
A highlight not to be missed whilst staying at Thorntree River Lodge is a sunset cruise down the Zambezi River, a truly unique way to see spectacular game sightings and immerse yourself in the sights, smells and sounds of the glorious African bushveld. Rhino tracking and game drives are also on offer, as well as excursions further afield.
Community Outreach
There are numerous opportunities for guests to get involved in should they wish to. Go2Africa and the African Bushcamps Foundation with whom the lodge are affiliated have made a hugely positive impact on local community, including school feeding programmes and painting and renovating projects at the schools in the nearby villages, including Maunga Village.
