Sable Alley is a legendary safari camp which has been rebuilt at its beautiful old location overlooking a hippo-filled lagoon where large herds of plains game and elephants often come to drink. This light, bright and beautiful luxury destination is set in the heart of the game-rich floodplains of Khwai Private Reserve. Guests can soak up the uninterrupted views of Botswana’s golden bushveld from the sprawling deck, the swimming pool and the alfresco sitting areas, and explore the spectacular surrounding landscapes fringing the Khwai and Sable Alley rivers.

The Rooms

Boasting twelve stylish and spacious guest tents that blend seamlessly into the natural environment, Sable Alley offers visitors the chance to get up close to nature. Each room has indoor and outdoor showers, a private deck, offers stunning views of the lagoon and features luxury Afro-chic interior design.

Game viewing opportunities

This game-rich area is home to a diversity of abundant wildlife. Spot lion, elephant, leopard, and vast herds of buffalo as well as a multi-coloured variety of birdlife while on a game drive through the stunning Khwai Private Reserve. It isn’t unusual to see over 50 different species on one game drive alone. Commonly spotted wildlife include: cheetah, wild dog, impala, baboons, sable and roan antelope. Enjoy guided safaris on land in 4X4 vehicles, or on water in a mokoro traditional dugout canoe

All-year-round activities

Every season offers something different but guests can spot wildlife all year round. When the Okavango Delta floods from May, guests can enjoy canoeing through reed-lined waterways. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy day and evening game drives, informative game walks, birdwatching and viewing hides.

All-year-round activities

  • A maximum of three safari vehicles are allowed at any one sighting, avoiding overcrowding and making for a top-notch safari experience.
  • The opportunity to spot the elusive honey badger on a night game drive.
  • Don’t miss the Skybeds experience, where guests can spend a night sleeping under the African night sky on a bed atop a multi-level timber platform.
